This Special Track (NPCEE2011) within the IEEE EDUCON2011 Conference aims to foster the discussion on "New Pedagogic Challenges in Engineering Education" by providing a forum for sharing approaches, developments and experiences in line with the mission of the International Society for Engineering Education - IGIP.
The proposed topics are concerned not only with good practices in engineering education (EE) and with the constant demand on the use of technology but also with the effectiveness of fundamental knowledge in order to guaranty simultaneously the spirit of engineering leadership in society and the lifelong learning capability. They also include the perspective of EE oriented for K-12 teachers and students as well as at postgraduate levels and for Engineering Educators.
Accepted papers will be published in the EDUCON2011 Proceedings with ISBN number and will be also available through IEEE Xplore.

Enterprise Systems, such as ERP-Systems for example, are an important part of the ITinfrastructure of today’s enterprises worldwide. Hence, the integration of these systems plays an important role in the area of educational environments. Because of their high potential of illustration, visualization and simulation of business and decision-making processes for learners, Enterprise Systems have a high significance for future pedagogic innovation within higher education. The primary challenge is to tap this potential in the education of Enterprise Systems. Actually there are different approaches (e.g. case studies) to train students in these systems. Furthermore, some technical solutions to support students’ behaviour also exist.
The ESHE11-Workshop addresses both: experience with case studies and other material as well as technical solutions based on Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL). The main objective of this workshop is to bring researchers and practitioners together to explore the issues and challenges related to Enterprise Systems in higher education.
The papers should be related to the main topics of the workshop of Enterprise Systems in Education, e.g. (but not limited to):
There are two types of paper for the Workshop, namely:
All papers accepted for the workshop ESHE2011, whatever the presentation format, will be published in the proceedings under an ISBN reference, on paper and on CD-ROM support, as long as the camera-ready submission, registration and copyright document have been received.
The paper template is available at: http://www.educon-conference.org/educon2011/documents/EDUCON2011_template.doc
All authors of accepted papers as well as other participants will be asked to read accepted papers abstracts before the workshop (paper abstract will be available on-line in advance) to facilitate discussion. Workshop participants will be also invited to take part in the EDUCON 2011 conference and other EDUCON 2011 workshops. The workshop publicity will be done by homepage linking, newsletter and personnel invitations. The author who has an accepted paper, irrespective of the paper type (full or short paper), must be registered as an author. No other registration type will be accepted.

The increasing demand for sustainable strategies and the success of sustainable investments pressure companies to consider environmental issues not only on an operative, but a strategical level, going beyond legal compliance. Management is increasingly supported in this task by Environmental Management Information Systems (EMIS). Such systems are targeted - besides fulfilling legal requirements e.g. in waste management or hazardous materials - at optimizing material and energy flows, minimise emissions and waste, and establish production integrated environmental protection. A more efficient usage of resources often leads additionally to economic success, reducing the amount of required material and the amount of waste. Such management requires complex information systems, which have to harmonise economic and ecological goals.
In order to deal with this complexity, there is a need for highly educated personnel, which has knowledge in environmental management, technologies, and has comprehensive insight about the organisation and optimisation of business processes under environmental view points. Furthermore, techniques to model and optimise energy and material flows in companies are required, allowing the design, development, and application of EMIS.
The EMIS workshop addresses both: experience with case studies and other material as well as technical solutions based on Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL). These can cover topics (i) to describe the current state of the art and latest developments of EMIS and (ii) how to gain a holistic view of next generation EMIS in order to integrate environmental management on all layers of a company's IT infrastructure and management processes.
The main objective of this workshop is to bring researchers and practitioners together to explore the issues and challenges related to Enterprise Systems in higher education.
We are looking forward to receiving contributions including, but not limited to, the following topics:
